From its blended Spanish Revival and Mission styles to its traditional kiva-style lobby fireplace to our earthen pigment-inspired color palette, White Cliffs feels like a warm hug. Our goal was to create a familiar, resort-like experience that connects White Cliffs to its surrounding environment while sheltering its residents. White stucco walls, hand-hewn wood beams, wrought-iron lighting, and clay roofing tiles bring in outside architectural elements, tying interior with exterior spaces and honoring the Southwest’s diverse cultures. Taking design cues from the broader landscape, our color palette for White Cliffs is warm, low-contrast, and soothing, filled with natural whites, terra cottas, adobe clays, and other organic pigments. From their first few minutes at White Cliffs, residents and visitors feel welcomed. In the main assisted-living building, the hacienda-inspired lobby—a shared living room—is anchored by a traditional kiva-style fireplace and elevated by striking box-beam ceilings, entrance archways, and rustic wood trim. With its high ceilings and arched windows, the adjacent bright, inviting library is flooded with natural light. These elegant, comfortable rooms are designed for true relaxing. Further into the assisted living building, a bistro, barber shop and salon, fitness room, theatre for movie screenings, and a game room with poker tables, shuffleboard, and pool tables add to the hospitality-inspired environment. A shared kitchen links both buildings, clustered by full-service dining rooms. In the memory care building, activity rooms and interactive artwork encourage residents to engage with their environment, caregivers, and visitors, while a private inner courtyard, nostalgic photography, and lots of natural light create a comfortable and peaceful environment. With the simplicity and intentionality of our design to highlight truly special moments, White Cliffs remains a timelessly beautiful expression of what’s possible for senior living.

Drawing from the region’s traditional Spanish Revival and Mission architecture, our resort-like design prioritizes courtyard views and shelters residents from traffic. White Cliffs’ memory-care building is donut-shaped, with a secured courtyard in the middle and walking corridors for residents along the perimeter. This efficient, inward-facing layout shifts the shared and private units to the building’s outer rim, moves the memory-care amenity in toward the courtyard, and links the shared kitchen/back of house to the larger assisted-living building via the dining rooms. It worked so well, our floorplan became the prototype for future Link projects. For the assisted-living building, with its studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, our design expressly encourages socializing. Up front, we placed the bright, inviting library tower, with double-height ceilings and large arched windows, along with a bistro cafe (that serves coffee and ice cream), a movie theater and game room (for poker, shuffleboard, and billiards), a fitness room, and a barber shop/salon. The hacienda-like lobby, anchored by a beautiful, white-stuccoed kiva fireplace, is the elegant living room of White Cliffs, a public welcoming space that just begs visitors to put their feet up. Intimate outdoor patio areas encourage people to reconnect in small groups or simply by themselves. At night, White Cliffs glows. This is luxury that accentuates its surroundings rather than standing out. Simple stucco with red clay-tile roofs, adobe walls, punctuated wrought-iron details, walking paths with raised beds and shady rest areas—even the Spanish Colonial-style library tower—tie into the desert landscape. With its blended Spanish Revival and Mission styles, White Cliffs sits easily among Kingman’s traditional architecture. And the courtyard-oriented concept, which feels less like two monolithic buildings and more like a beautiful resort filled with intimate experiences, brings a sense of warmth and elegance to the White Cliffs senior community. White Cliffs was a true design collaboration with Link Senior Development, and it’s only grown better with time.
